Istras baznīca ir mūra krustveida celtne ar skārda jumtu, 26 metrus gara un 16 metrus plata. Pamati jaunās mūra baznīcas būvei tika likti 1933. gadā. Bieži mainoties priesteriem, baznīcas celtniecības darbi ieilga. Dievnama būvniecību pabeidza un iesvētīja 1940. gadā.
