Tautā šo baznīcu dēvē par “dzelzs baznīcu”. Šī ir vienīgā zināmā dzelzs baznīca Latvijā. Tās ārējā apdare – sienas, logu rāmji, jumta spāres, jumts, kupola apakša un pats kupols – ir no dzelzs un čuguna. Baznīca veidota 1866. gadā no saliekamajām konstrukcijām, kas gatavotas Odesā. Baznīca uz tagadējo atrašanās vietu pārvesta un uzstādīta 1904. g. Pirms tam tā 1886.g. bijusi uzstādīta Daugavpilī. Baznīcai ir arhitektūras pieminekļa statuss. Dievnama ēka ir ne tikai unikāla, bet tā ir arī vērtīgs vēsturisks objekts. Šajā dievnamā var ne tikai aizdegt sveci pie svētbildes un pasūtīt aizlūgumu par veselību vai par mirušo tuvinieku, bet arī daudz ko uzzināt par Pareizticības pirmsākumiem Latvijas teritorijā.
