LELB Piņķu sv.Jāņa draudze dibināta 13. gs. Pašreizējais dievnams celts pēc ievērojamā arhitekta J.D. Felsko projekta 1874. gadā. Baznīcā atrodas vairāki valsts nozīmes kultūras un vēstures pieminekļi - 1890.g. Zauera firmas darinātās ērģeles, 1844.g. J.L. Eginka glezna “Kristus un Pēteris uz jūras”. Aplūkojama ekspozīcija par Babītes pagasta vēsturi. 1916. gadā no Latviešu strēlnieku dievkalpojuma Piņķu baznīcā, vēlāk rodas Al. Čaka eposā “Mūžības skartie’’, iekļautais sprediķis Piņķu baznīcā. 1919. gadā pie Piņķiem notiek Rīgas atbrīvošanas kaujas, par ko baznīcā atgādina piemiņas plāksne. Pie baznīcas atrodas Piņķu kapi, kurā redzami 19. gs. pieminekļi un koka krusti – mūsdienās citās kapsētās tie jau sen izzuduši. Starp baznīcu un kapsētu ir saglabājies 20. gs. 20.-30. gados celtais kapsarga namiņš. Dievkalpojumi baznīcā notiek katru svētdienu plkst. 11:00.
