Description
Embūtes Vācu bruņinieku pils būvēta no 1236. gada līdz 1265. gadam.
Embūtes pilī līdz 16. gs. dzīvojuši vairāki Piltenes bīskapijas
bīskapi. Pils nopostīta Ziemeļu kara laikā. Kopš 17.gs. Embūtes pils kļuva par
lielas muižas centru, muižnieku dzimtas mitekli. Uz vecajiem pils pamatiem 18.
gs. tika uzcelta muižas dzīvojamā ēka, 19. gs. tā paplašināta, nojaucot vienu
no vecajiem vārtu torņiem.1920. gadā muižas ēka arī nodeg. Līdz mūsdienām drupu
stāvoklī saglabājušās pils apkārtējā vaļņa paliekas.
