Buku muižas aizsākums meklējams 16.gs. Tai bijuši vairāki nosaukumi – Hardemoisa, Bokenhof, Suddenbach. Pēdējo nosaukumu tā ieguvusi no Sudas (no lībiešu valodas sudden – `vilks`) upes, kuras krastā atrodas kungu māja. Šādu nosaukumu tā saglabājusi līdz 20.gs. 20.gadiem, un tikai tad tā ieguva tautas valodā lietoto nosaukumu – Bukas muiža, kas radies no ilggadējo īpašnieku baronu fon Boku dzimtas vārda.Buku muižas kungu māja tika dedzināta 1905.gadā, atjaunota 1920.gadā. Pēdējie muižas īpašnieki bija fon Volfu dzimta. Šodien Buku muiža ir privātīpašums, tajā notiek restaurācijas darbi.
