Description
Muzejs atklāts 1970. gadā ar toreizējās kopsaimniecības "Lāčplēsis" leģendārā priekšsēdētāja Edgara Kauliņa svētību un atbalstu. Muzejā savākti un apkopoti materiāli par dzejnieku Andreju Pumpuru (1841 - 1902), eposu "Lāčplēsis", latviešu kultūru un vēsturi. Muzejs piedāvā ekskursijas pa Lielvārdi un Birzgali, mainīgas ekspozīcijas, ģimenes godu svinības.Andrejs Pumpurs dzimis 1841. gada 22. septembrī. Katru gadu 22. septembris Lielvārdē ir muzeja svētki. Katra mēneša pirmajā trešdienā plkst. 17 muzejā notiek pārdomu pēcpusdienas.Muzeja ēka Lielvārdes "Kraujās", kādreizējā muižas klēts, atrodas iepretim ev. luteriskai baznīcai. Lielie akmeņi muzeja priekšā ("Lāčplēša gulta" un "Lāčplēša sega") līdz Ķeguma spēkstacijas uzcelšanai gulēja Daugavā, pie Lielvārdes salas, kas tagad atrodas zem ūdens. Pie Andreja Pumpura muzeja atrodas Lielvārdes parks.
