Description
1777. gadā Elkšņos pie Susējas upes uzcēla baznīcu ar koka torni. No 1831. līdz 1833. gadam uzcēla tagadējo mūra baznīcu, ko iesvētīja 1834. gadā.
Juliusa Dēringa altārglezna "Kristus pie krusta" ir valsts nozīmes mākslas piemineklis. 1887. gadā baznīcu remontēja, tad uzbūvēja tagadējo torni. 1905. gadā dievnamam uzlika jaunu jumtu un piebūvēja sakristeju. Pirmā pasaules kara laikā kopš 1915. gada baznīca atradās vācu karaspēka okupācijas zonā, zvanu evakuēja uz Krieviju. Tai tika sapostītas ērģeles, iznesti soli, nozudis kroņlukturis, bet priekšbaznīcā ierīkota labības noliktava. 1925. gadā atjaunoja ērģeles, 1934. gadā baznīcā atsakās dievkalpojumi.
Pēc Otrā pasaules kara baznīca turpināja darboties.
