The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Christ in Aizkraukle was founded in October 1990, but only five years later the construction of the church began.On 24 October 1998 the church was consecrated after the construction works were completed. This is the first church built in a modern style in the post-war years, built as a church complex with an enlarged congregation meeting space.The architect Rudīte Lipore designed the church after a church in a German village, adapting it to the local conditions.The polyfunctionality of the church has given it an unusual shape for Latvian Lutheran churches. The predominance of auxiliary spaces for the congregation makes the design unconventional. In addition to the main prayer room, the building houses a sacristy, a meeting room, Sunday school rooms and a pastor's apartment, forming a striking and highly functional ensemble.
The church is open to everyone by prior arrangement.
