Baznīca celta 1997. gadā. Arhitekts – ilggadējais Salacgrīvas novada domes priekšsēdētājs D. Straubergs (tagadējais Limbažu novada domes priekšsēdētājs).
Salacgrīvas Sv. Marijas Goreti katoļu baznīcā dievkalpojumi notiek svētdienās, plkst. 13:00.Altāra krustu ar Kristus tēlu darinājis tēlnieks Jānis Bārda. Sienas mozaīkas “Marija Goreti” un „Vaclava tilts” ir Mairitas Folkmanes darbs. 1997.g. 27. jūlijs salacgrīviešiem paliks atmiņā uz ilgiem laikiem, jo šajā dienā V.E. arhibīskaps – Jānis Pujats konsekrēja jauno katoļu dievnamu. Liela loma un pretimnākšana bija Salacgrīvas pilsētas domei: dievnamu sāka celt Domes priekšsēdētāja Jāņa Ramata kunga laikā, bet pabeigt palīdzēja jaunais pilsētas mērs Uldis Pūsilds. Dievnamu projektēja Dagnis Straubergs. Lielā altāra krustu un Kristus atveidu darināja mākslinieks Jānis Bārda, Sv. Marijai Goreti veltīto mozaīku – Mārīte Folkmane.
