Description
Nīgrandes luterāņu baznīca (1775. gads) ir Nīgrandes pagasta vecākā ēka, kur vēl saglabājušies 18. gs. darinātie zvani un torņa gailis. Pirmā baznīca celta 17. gs. 60-tajos gados un saukusies par Pīlesmiesta baznīcu. Miests izveidojies par pilsētiņu, kura 1658. gadā ieguvusi pilsētas tiesības. Tomēr ar laiku tā panīkusi un 1754. gadā pievienota Nīgrandes muižai. 1775. gadā Pīlesmiesta koka baznīcas vietā celta mūra baznīca, kas saglabājusies līdz mūsu dienām. Līdzekļus tās celtniecībai devusi Nīgrandes muižas toreizējā īpašniece Katrīna Helēna fon Reke. Baznīca kapitāli remontēta 1883. un 1975. gadā.
