Tautā karsta kritenēm doti savi nosaukumi – Siena dobe, Kazas dobe, Nāves dobe u.c.. Tās iespējams apskatīt gida pavadībā. Latvijā karsta kritenes raksturīgas Skaistkalnes, Baldones, Ķemeru un Allažu apkārtnei, kā arī atsevišķām vietām Dienvidkurzemē, kur zem kvartāra nogulumiem ieguļ kaļķakmens. Līdz šodienai visvairāk izpētītas ir Skaistkalnes apkārtnē izplatītās karsta formas. Vislielākā virszemes karsta formu izplatība Latvijas teritorijā konstatēta austrumos no Skaistkalnes, tā turpinās arī Lietuvas teritorijā, kur izveidots Biržu reģionālais parks.
