Pirmsskolas izglītības grupas, kā speciālā pirmsskolas izglītības iestāde bērniem ar redzes traucējumiem sāka savu darbu 1979.gada novembrī. 2019. gadā pirmsskolas izglītības grupas tika pievienotas Rīgas Strazdumuižas vidusskolai- attīstības centram (bērniem ar redzes traucējumiem), kurā ir latviešu un krievu grupas.
Pirmskolā : veic redzes korekciju, nostiprina bērnu veselību, veicina vispusīgu garīgo ,fizisko un sociālo attīstību, sagatavo pamatizglītības uzsākšanai.
