Description
Raunas baznīca ir būvēta tajā pašā gadā, kad Raunas pils- 1262. pēc Rīgas arhibīskapa Alberta II ierosinājuma. Kopš 16.gs. sākuma te darbojas evaņģēliski luteriskā draudze. Raunas baznīca pārcietusi karus, vairākkārt stipri postīta un pārbūvēta. 18.gs baznīcai tiek celtas piebūves, Pēdējā pārbūve notikusi 1930.gadu beigās. Virs rietumu portāla apskatāms unikāls 13.-14.gs. veidots cilnis „Ādams un Ieva”, virs galvenās ieejas baznīcā- „Kristus pie krusta” (16.gs.).Raunas baznīcā kalpojuši tādi slaveni mācītāji kā Jānis Reiters, Ādams Jende, Pēteris Apkalns u.c.
