Alas atrodas Svētupes krastā pie Kuiķules līča. 1973. gadā J. Urtāns atklāja, ka šeit no 14. līdz 19. gs. ziedots. Viņš alas sienās atrada senās maģijas zīmes - lietuvēna krustus, Jumja zīmes, taisnos un slīpos krustus un citas. Bijušā Metsepoles novada lībiešu nozīmīgākā kulta vieta, par ko liecina arheoloģiskajos izrakumos atrastās 628 monētas un senlietas, alu sienās iegravētās senās maģijas zīmes un visvecākais visvecākais Latvijā datētais uzraksts - 1664. gads (2 vietās) un 1667.g. Viena no visgarākajām alām Latvijā vidusdevona smilšakmeņos.
Alas un atsegums Burtnieku svītas smilšakmeņos. Senāk bijusi viena ala ar diviem atzariem, taču lielā ieejas zāle sabrukusi 19. gadsimtā, un tagad ir divas alas, starp kuru ieejām ir daži metri. Alas griestos "skursteņi" - īpatnēji, acīmredzot dabiskas izcelsmes iedobumi griestos, vairākus metrus dziļi un tikai ap 10 cm diametrā.
Lielākā Lībiešu Upurala - 46 m gara, ilgi tika uzskatīta par garāko Latvijā. Dziļumā ala ir ļoti šaura. Pie ieejas ala sadalās, lai pēc dažiem metriem atkal apvienotos. Alas platums 2 m, augstums 1,9 m.
Mazākā Lībiešu Upurala - 19,5 m gara. Platums 1,5 m, augstums 2 m. Ala ir ļoti iespaidīga, par spīti nelielajai ieejai, sienās seni uzraksti.
