Description
Pašreizējā baznīcas ēka uz Liepnu pārvesta laikā no 1945. līdz 1947. gadam, kad tā uzstādīta 1944. gadā nodegušās baznīcas vietā un piemērota dievnama vajadzībām.
Liepnas pirmā katoļu koka kapela tika uzcelta 1754. gadā, uz akmens pamatiem. To Krievijas impērijas valdība slēdza 1862. gadā un nodeva pareizticīgajiem. 1921. gadā Latvijas valdība kapelu atdeva atpakaļ katoļticīgajiem. Vēlāk pie vecās kapelas sāniem tika uzbūvēta jauna koka baznīca un, izņemot vecās baznīcas sānu sienu, abus dievnamus savienoja. Rezultātā vecā kapela kļuva par jaunās baznīcas presbitērija (telpa pirms altāra) daļu. Baznīcas būvniecības darbi tika pabeigti 1939. gadā, bet Otrā pasaules kara laikā baznīca nodega.
