Dievnams mūrēts 1674. – 1684. g. Embūtes luterāņu baznīca ir bijusi viena no vislielākajām Kurzemes hercogistē ar 300 sēdvietu un bijusi ievērojama ar saviem kokgriezumiem iekštelpās. Pirmā pasaules kara laikā baznīca nav cietusi. Otrā pasaules kara beigās baznīca nopostīta. Palikuši tikai mūri un zvana tornis, kurā var pamanīt artilērijas lādiņu atstātās pēdas.
