Today, the museum complex includes four buildings, in which are located - the collection of museum, art exhibition hall, history exhibition hall and the administration. The museum dates back to 1947, when a decision on its establishment were made. The initial museum's treasure is the Rozental’s collection of the original works gathered by artist’s contemporary Marts Vējš.
One of the complex buildings designed by Rozental is the dwelling house with studio, which construction works started in 1899. After the completion of building outstanding countryman of Saldus stayed here only for two years (1901/02), more linking his future activities to Riga.
J. Rozental’s Saldus Museum of History and Art is currently the only place in Latvia, where the original works from Latvian painting master's early creative period are seen. Few, but dear family and personal belongings provides an insight into the artist’s everyday life of that time.
Currently, in J. Rozental’s house are exhibited the works of Latvian old masters and modern artists from the collection, which is made and presented to Saldus by businessman Guntis Priedaiks.
