I.U.SMĒDE ir metālkalēju darbnīca. Darba pieredze ir no 1992. gada, bet patstāvīgi strādājam no 1998. gada, un darbība noris Turaidas muzejrezrevāta muižas smēdē. Mūsu galvenais darbības veids ir dekoratīvu metālkalumu izgatavošana pēc pasūtījuma. Mēs veicam roku darbu, neizmantojam no ārzemēm ievestas rūpnieciski kaltas sagataves, neizmantojam preses, štances u.t.t. piedāvājam arī interjera dzelzs elementu skicēšanu un dažādu ideju zīmēšanu.
Mēs strādājam smēdē kuru dien dienā var apmeklēt tūristi gan grupās gan individuāli, un dodam iespēju skatīties kalšanas procesu, kā arī drosmīgākajiem izmēģināt kalēja prasmi pašiem. Interesentiem stāstam par smēdi, par kalšanu, kalēja instrumentiem, par izkaltām lietām, kā tas bija agrāk un, kā tas ir tagad.
